Why it works
A fast charger’s fixed costs are the same whether it’s used or not. We fill its dead hours, so the network earns on a stall that was idle and you charge for less than retail. Nobody loses, and the cars never wait.
Example: “We have 5 stalls free at this site until 6 am. They’re yours unless you decline.”
Data: NREL AFDC, pulled Nov 5, 2026. FPL sites checked on FPL’s own station map. On average, US public fast-charging stalls are in use about 16% of the time (Paren, third quarter of 2026); live use at each site isn’t connected yet.
