What was it?

Anonymity

  • No account, no name, no email.
  • Location is a neighborhood plus, if given, a street label and a grid square about 110 meters across. A house number is never stored.
  • The browser keeps a random id. The server stores a hash of it with the block and the month, in a separate record, to allow one review per block per month and five per neighborhood per month. The hash is never stored on a review.
  • The request address is hashed with a salt that changes each hour, to cap reviews per connection. It is not stored on a review.
  • Free text is scrubbed of links, emails, phone numbers, street addresses, unit numbers and plate-like tokens before it is stored.
  • The only time published is the week a review was made.

Publishing

  • Percentages appear once a group has 30 answers that are not "not sure". Below that, counts.
  • A block gets a grade from three votes. Red: 40 percent or more chose "not on this street", or half or more said it was a problem for them. Green: 60 percent or more chose "waiting here is fine", under 15 percent chose "not on this street", and under half of sightings lasted over 20 minutes. Otherwise yellow.
  • Reviews are published as written. A review flagged by three different readers is held until someone looks at it. We do not edit text.
  • A neighborhood page is listed in search engines from five reviews.
  • Service attribution is not collected yet. If it is added, it will be published only where a block has 30 or more answers for that service.
